New Telugu Lanjala Kathalu 2015

Apple CEO Tim Cook was said to be ‘deeply offended’ by claims about working practices in Apple’s supply chain made in a BBC documentary last week.

In a letter to Apple’s UK staff, Apple’s senior vice president of operations, Jeff Williams said, “Like many of you, Tim and I were deeply offended by the suggestion that Apple would break a promise to the workers in our supply chain or mislead our customers in any way.”

Apple last year promised to tighten up its supply chain after it was revealed staff were being forced by partner firms to work overtime, with many falling asleep on the job. Some staff at Foxconn, Apple’s main assembly partner, took their own lives.

The new BBC documentary alleged overtime was still being widely enforced, with workers exhausted and stressed. It also claimed that illegally mined tin from Indonesia was finding its way into Apple’s supply chain, something which Apple has admitted does happen.

Williams’ letter detailed what Apple has already done to attempt to fix these issues and said that the facts he laid out had not been used by the BBC in its documentary.

Of the illegal tin ending up in Apple’s devices, Williams said, “Apple has two choices: We could make sure all of our suppliers buy tin from smelters outside of Indonesia, which would probably be the easiest thing for us to do and would certainly shield us from criticism. But it would be the lazy and cowardly path, because it would do nothing to improve the situation for Indonesian workers.”

The documentary has once again opened the debate about where mobile phone companies source their materials and the wider cost of the world’s rabid appetite for new technology at any cost.

Barack Obama will steel Americans for a prolonged battle against the Islamic State Wednesday, despite devoting much of his presidency to avoiding sapping new entanglements in the Middle East.

His hand forced by the radical group's sudden rise in Syria and Iraq, Obama will use a prime time address to argue that targeted military might and an international coalition can defeat IS, before it poses a threat to the US homeland.

But mindful of avoiding what he believes are the mistakes of the last decade, Obama will assure millions of television viewers that he will not send conventional ground troops back to Iraq to fight a group that has beheaded two US journalists.

It remained unclear whether Obama would also use the address on the ceremonial state floor of the White House -- where he announced the success of a US operation to kill Osama bin Laden -- to signal an expansion of US airstrikes against IS from Iraq into Syria.

But the New York Times and the Washington Post said late Tuesday that Obama is in fact prepared to authorize air strikes in Syria. The Times quoted a senior administration official, while the Post cited foreign policy experts who have spoken to Obama in recent days.

NewsSpot was an impressive Google Reader app for our Windows Phone. In a few days though, Google Reader will be no more and changes were needed. Enter the version 3.1 update for NewsSpot which brings support for NewsBlur.

NewsBlur has gained in popularity since Google tanked its Reader and has a free account or a paid subscription that will run $24 annually.

Additionally, NewsSpot also supports switching between multiple sync accounts. You still have support for Pocket, Instapaper, Twitter, Facebook, Readability, and Evernote to share or bookmark your articles.

The developer does note that some of the advanced features of NewsBlur haven't been integrated into NewsSpot but are in the works. The target is to get functionality up to snuff sometime in July.

Additionally, look for future updates to bring service choices beyond NewsBlur to give users a choice of where they get news from. Choices that could include FeedBin, AOL Reader, and hopefully Feedly once the API is available.
